Europe’s four most romantic restaurants with a view

No, you don’t need Valentine’s Day to get all romantic. Even better: do something romantic when it’s NOT Valentine’s Day. Want our advice? Surprise your partner by taking him or her on a gastronomic weekend. But don’t just choose a restaurant that serves magnificent food. Go for an exquisite restaurant with a view that is so breathtaking it will knock your partner’s socks off. Take your (Samsonite) weekend bag and head off: nothing beats a delicious candlelight dinner with a view you have never experienced before.

We all need a little guidance of course, so here is our Top 4 of most romantic restaurants in Europe – WITH a view.

La Sponda at La Sirenuse

Along on a hillside in Positano, Italy, La Sponda at La Sirenuse exudes romance with its breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea, gorgeous atmosphere, and delectable cuisine with seasonal menus. La Sponda is a Michelin-starred restaurant that offers beautiful dining arrangements that are further enhanced at night with the soft glow of 400 candles, creating a very dreamy environment. Specializing in Neapolitan cuisine, La Sponda’s culinary offerings feature a lovely selection of fresh fish and pastas made with local produce and ingredients. Between the locale and the culinary delicacies, you are guaranteed to have an unforgettable night at La Sponda.

Nautika - Dubrovnik

On the very edge of the sea at Pile, alongside the western entrance to Dubrovnik's Old City, lies the Nautika Restaurant. From its unique terraces, diners can enjoy a truly one of a kind view of the Adriatic and the fortresses of Lovrijenac and Bokar. Nautika is one of the world's most romantic restaurants in the world: sit on the terrace at night, where the deep, dark Adriatic laps against the sheer white walls of the old city, and you'll understand why.

Ambrosia - Santorini

Located at Cliffside Terrace at Village Center, Oia, Ambrosia is the most romantic restaurant in Oia, and maybe all of Santorini. Either dine under the stars at one of the eleven tables on its terraces — the upper terrace provides both the most privacy and the best view - or get caught up in the romance of the antique-filled candlelit interiors. The terrace of Ambrosia overlooks the steel blue Aegean Sea, the rocky caldera rim, and a gentle rise of volcanic islands. Don’t miss the beautiful sunset!

Tip: Outdoor seating is available April through October. Reserve terrace tables a month in advance

La Chèvre d’Or, Eze - France

High above the Mediterranean in the medieval hilltop village of Eze, you find the restaurant of the hotel Chateau de la Chevre d’Or. The view from the restaurant’s roof terrace is truly amazing: one of the most spectacular views along the Cote d’Azur. Diners look down over tiled rooftops onto St.-Jean-Cap-Ferrat’s luxury villas and yachts bobbing on the mottled blue sea. The restaurant counts two Michelin stars, and features gourmet French cuisine.

Tip: Enjoy the view well into the evening during the summer months, when it’s warm enough to enjoy a cocktail or an after-dinner drink on the bar’s outdoor terrace. Book a month in advance for summer weekend nights.
